Wedding FAQ

We absolutely love your photos, but what we want is not in our budget, are your prices flexible?
We understand that photography is a big wedding expense. Our prices are firm but we don’t want you to over extend yourself, so we’ve created personal payment plans (including payment by credit card) and a photography registry that your guests can use to help subsidize your coverage, albums, and more.

Can we upgrade our coverage later?
You can always add to your wedding coverage at any time. Reserving albums and pre-ordering cards or canvases when booking your photography will entitle you to special discounts. Be sure to ask!

Do you travel outside the local area or to destination weddings? What do you charge?
We love to travel! In fact, destination weddings are some of our favorites. For weddings more than 60 miles outside Seattle, we apply a federal rate of 50 cents per driven mile. For farther-flung destinations, we ask only for reimbursement of airfare and necessary lodging. Let’s see what works for you!

Can you shoot our engagement portraits?
Yes, of our coverage includes a complimentary practice shoot. It’s the best way for us to get to know each other so we can give you the best photos possible and so you can feel even more comfortable with your personal paparazzi on your wedding day!

Do you offer Trash the Dress, Bridal, or Day-After session?
Yes! We LOVE TTD sessions and any opportunity to take more casual wedding portraits in a relaxed environment. Just let us know what you have in mind.

How do we reserve our wedding date?
You or your fiance must sign a contract and put down a $500 retainer to hold your wedding date.  You can sign and pay online! We accept cash, checks, VISA and MasterCard.

Should we meet before the wedding to discuss the details?
Absolutely! We’d love to have dinner, talk on the phone, or chat online. Get in touch whenever, whenever!

What type of equipment do you use?
We shoot with Canon EOS 5D Mark 2, 7D, and 20D cameras and a variety of lenses and strobes. We also use a full set of portable studio lights for photos taken at the reception or with our photo booth.

Do you edit all of our images?
All of your photographs have been double-checked for proper exposure and color calibration, then run through our special artistic editing process. Any images chosen for prints, albums, canvases, and cards will be lightly retouched and given extra attention.

Do you shoot with an assistant?
Justin and I always shoot together unless he is unavailable. In that case, I will select one of my colleagues with a similar photographic style to be my second shoter.

Do you have insurance?
We have comprehensive personal liability, equipment coverage, and business insurance.

Are you a member of any photography associations?
We are members of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA) and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

Do my fiance and I need to see each other before the ceremony?
It’s up to you… but we highly recommend savoring every moment and taking the day as slowly as possible. This is most easily accomplished by spending time together before the ceremony, and taking a minute or two to let it all soak in. You’ll feel less stressed, and the day will naturally flow better.

The reception might run later than anticipated, will you stay longer if needed?
We’ll stay as long as you need us! Outside of your selected coverage, there is a $250/hr fee.

Will you be able to check out the reception venue before the wedding?
We always check out your venue and any portrait locations before your wedding to find the best spots to take pictures, test the lighting, and figure out any problems that we may need to avoid.

How many photos will we end up with?
This varies from wedding to wedding but usually is between 75 and 100 images per hour.

How quickly will we be able to see images from our wedding? How long does it take to get our album?
Generally images are posted online within 6 weeks of your wedding. You’ll also receive your initial album design, after which point we will finalize your album, and I will send you your disc of print-resolution images. After that, your album will take six to eight more weeks to be printed and shipped.
