Meet Laura, Tim, and Van. One rainy weekend last month, I spent the morning with them and a few of their extended family taking some fun Christmas portraits. We had big plans to use the gorgeous landscape at Lewis Creek Park in Bellevue… and were completely rained out. But, lucky me! Because they’re the most bee-you-ti-ful family ever, it didn’t matter where we photographed.

Little Van was a BIG explorer, and very curious. Look at those eyes! He was crawling everywhere he could (his newest accomplishment is being mobile!) and putting strange things into his mouth. We took a bunch of baby portraits at the Lewis Creek visitor’s center where there were all sorts of fun tactile things to explore, like the bear skin rug below.

After a short session with Laura, Tim, and Van, we were joined at the family’s home by Laura’s parents for some photos with grandma and grandpa. They’re all so photogenic!

These two were the most wonderful couple and so very American Gothic.

At home, Van showed off some of his favorite things. Picture books! A man after my own heart…

He’s also well on his way to becoming a walker. Who knows what sort of cute mischief he’ll get into then.

It’s hard work being a model– for little and big people– especially when there are bright lights involved. But Van was a total star! He’s a darling young man, in part because he’s surrounded by lovely people who absolutely adore him. Mwah!
